With so many amazing submissions in years past, we can’t wait to see what inspiring, informative and original videos you create this year! What’s it all about? Sharing photos, downloading music, texting, doing schoolwork, keeping in touch with friends — with more people spending increasing time online, it’s important to know how to do it safely and responsibly.

Over 40% UK teenagers admit to having hacked before

 

Based on a research study commissioned by Trend Micro, CNBC ran a programme identifying online crime in connection with teenagers/kids.
It featured

  • A spokesperson from Childnet talking about the rise in cybercrime targeted at the younger generation

  • Rik Ferguson from Trend Micro talking about the different online threats such as social networking

  • A father who is concerned about how his kids use the internet

  • A teenager talking candidly about being tempted to hack/spy as an easy way to make money


  • The result was a well-rounded piece, highlighting a topical issue from the perspective of multiple parties.

    To support our vision of making the world safe for exchanging digital information, we aspire to make a difference by using our expertise to make the world at large a better place. One of the ways we do this is through a commitment to make the Internet a safer place for young people around the world. Trend Micro’s Internet Safety for Kids and Families initiative is designed to:

    • Raise awareness among parents, youth, educators, and caregivers about the Internet safety and security issues facing young people today
    • Provide useful advice, information, and tools to help them manage these issues
    • Support 3rd party organizations who have the same goals
    • Enable our own employees to be part of driving awareness and education in their local communities worldwide
